Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has urged Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo to refrain from initiating any investigations into the administration of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
Instead, Wike emphasized the importance of focusing on the state’s development.
During his visit to Benin City, Wike shared this counsel through a statement released by his spokesperson, Mr. Lere Olayinka. He acknowledged his own grievances with Obaseki but pointed out that pursuing inquiries into past administrations would offer minimal benefits and could divert attention away from the essential task of providing effective governance to the people of Edo.
“If anyone should have prompted Okpebholo to investigate and hold Obaseki accountable, it would have been me,” Wike remarked, highlighting the need for the new administration to prioritize progress over past disputes.
