The Kogi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a correctional officer identified as Oluwapelumi Adebayo, who is being accused of the gruesome murder of a young photographer, Ayo Ayepekun, in Lokoja, the state capital.
Disturbing Details Emerge
According to emerging reports, Adebayo allegedly lured the unsuspecting victim to his poultry farm under unclear pretenses. It was there that the horrific act is believed to have taken place. Shockingly, the suspect is said to have stored Ayo’s body in a refrigerator, placed it in a van, and drove away from the scene — raising chilling questions about motive and intent.
Attempted Cover-Up and Narrow Escape
Citing sources from TVC News, eyewitnesses claim Adebayo later returned to the crime scene, presumably to clean up and eliminate evidence. However, his presence did not go unnoticed. Local residents and members of a vigilante group reportedly spotted him and attempted to apprehend him.
In a desperate bid to escape, Adebayo fled in a vehicle. The vigilante group fired shots at his car, hitting the tires and forcing it to crash. Despite the crash, the suspect managed to escape on foot and has since remained at large.
Victim and Vehicle Still Missing
As of the time of filing this report, both Adebayo and the body of Ayo Ayepekun remain missing, deepening the mystery and intensifying public concern.
Family Cries Out for Justice
Grief-stricken family and friends of the victim are now calling on security agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing Adebayo to justice. They have expressed frustration and heartbreak over the delay in finding both their loved one and his suspected killer.
The Kogi State Police Command has appealed to members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“This is a deeply disturbing case, and we are doing everything possible to ensure justice is served,” a police spokesperson said.
A Call for Vigilance
This tragic incident has sparked wider conversations around safety, trust, and the need for vigilance, even in seemingly familiar environments. The public is urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
