President Bola Tinubu has put smiles on the faces of the Super Falcons by approving the full payment of their allowances and match bonuses ahead of their final match in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, announced this while speaking to reporters in Abuja on Thursday, July 24.
He confirmed that all entitlements due to the players, coaches, and officials including the final match on July 26 , have been fully disbursed for immediate payment.
Dikko described the president’s action as “policy in motion,” adding that it reflects a renewed commitment to the welfare of Nigerian athletes under Tinubu’s leadership.
He assured that going forward, this would be the new standard, with timely payments made without delays or unnecessary drama.
In addition, Dikko stated that Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, would also benefit from the same gesture as they prepare for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire.
He said D’Tigress will receive increased bonuses and allowances as part of the government’s support.
Dikko concluded by saying the new system is built on dignity, trust, and shared prosperity, and that future generations will remember Tinubu’s sports reforms with pride.
