This decision was made during the zonal working committee meeting held on Tuesday, August 5, and is in line with Part VII, Section 26(2) of the PDP Constitution. The move also has the backing of the National Working Committee (NWC) and PDP governors from the Southwest.

The newly appointed interim team includes Chief Sanya Atofarati as Chairman, Mrs. Lanre Fajuyi as Secretary, and Chief Adeola Ogunrinde as Member. The team is expected to assume office immediately and begin administrative duties without delay.

In a statement released by the Zonal Secretary, Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa, the party commended the outgoing caretaker committee led by Chief Dare Adeleke for its efforts in repositioning the party. The committee was praised for laying a solid foundation for the PDP’s revival in Ekiti ahead of future elections.

To further assess the current state of the party in the state, a five-member Fact-Finding Committee has also been constituted. Members of this committee include Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa (Chairman), Comrade Seyi Bamidele, Barr. Benson Amuwa, Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, and Chief Tunji Adeyemo.

In addition, a Reconciliation Committee is expected to engage with stakeholders across the state to resolve internal disputes and harmonise interests within the party. This is part of the party’s broader efforts to ensure unity and readiness for upcoming political contests.

The PDP reiterated its commitment to internal democracy, peace, and inclusiveness as it works to strengthen its structure across the region in preparation for future elections. And vows to do same in other states with “shaky” leadership and loyalty to the party.
