Recruitment: Federal Civil Service Shortlisting Begins for Over 2,000 Positions Nationwide

The Federal Government has officially commenced the shortlisting of candidates for over 2,000 civil service vacancies across various ministries, departments, and agencies. This follows the nationwide call for applications earlier in January 2025, which attracted thousands of hopefuls eager to join the public sector workforce.

The recruitment exercise, which includes critical roles such as Administrative Officer, Programme Analyst, Education Officer, Dentist, Psychologist, Biomedical Engineer, and Foreign Affairs Officer, was initially hampered by heavy traffic on the online portal. This prompted the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to extend the application deadline from March 10 to March 17.

Addressing public concerns about delays in the process, Mr. Taiwo Hassan, the FCSC Head of Press and Public Relations, affirmed that the recruitment exercise is well underway.

“We have not been quiet and we have not abandoned the exercise. Work has been ongoing,” he said. “Candidates have been shortlisted and notified via email with details of their Computer-Based Test (CBT) locations and other necessary information.”

According to Hassan, only candidates who submitted complete applications and met the stated requirements have been selected for the next stage, which involves sitting for a CBT screening. He emphasized that the selection process was strictly merit-based and that communication has already gone out to qualified applicants.

A notable update is that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is not among the available test centers for the CBT. Shortlisted candidates have been directed to select their preferred test locations from the available states listed on the portal.

While the exact number of shortlisted candidates has not been made public, earlier reports indicated that 2,130 vacancies are available across various arms of the federal civil service.

In a recent directive, the FCSC also instructed some shortlisted applicants to log into their profiles and complete a confirmation form within 72 hours as part of the verification and documentation process.

Applicants are urged to regularly check their emails and follow all instructions to avoid missing out on the recruitment opportunity.

This recruitment drive is part of a broader effort by the federal government to strengthen the civil service with qualified and competent professionals in critical sectors.
