FG Rewards 17-Year-Old World’s Best English Student with 200,000 naira

The Federal Government has rewarded 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu with a cash prize of ₦200,000 for emerging as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London.

At a ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented the award to Nafisa. He praised her performance, describing it as proof that Nigerian students can excel globally if given the right opportunities. He also assured that the government will continue to support education through scholarships, mentorship, and access to quality learning resources.

The event was attended by top officials, including the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmed, and the Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Abba Adam, alongside other dignitaries.

Prof. Adam described Nafisa and her peers as symbols of resilience. He noted that their success reflects the progress Yobe State is making in rebuilding its education system after years of insurgency. He also highlighted the state’s recent achievements, such as sponsoring 171 medical students who are now serving in local hospitals.

In her remarks, Nafisa thanked her parents, teachers, and the government for their support. She encouraged other young Nigerians to believe in themselves and work hard. She also unveiled her project, “English Language for Peace and Development”, aimed at promoting literacy and unity among young people.

Her recognition has been celebrated as a victory for both personal achievement and the promise of Nigeria’s future in education.
