In a significant move by the Akwa Ibom State Government to bolster food security, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, alongside Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, the Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area (LGA), hosted a state government delegation led by Hon. Princess Emem Ibanga and her entourage at the Mkpat Enin LGA headquarters this afternoon.

The visit marked the launch of the third phase of the state government’s food security programme, aimed at providing essential support to the most vulnerable communities. Both the Commissioner and Hon. Inyang extended a warm welcome to the visiting team, expressing their commitment to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth distribution of food items to beneficiaries.

Princess Emem Ibanga thanked stakeholders of Mkpat Enin for their support to the administration of pastor Umo Eno, she encouraged the people to participate in ongoing voter registration exercise, while encouraging them to ensure participation in all government welfare programmes.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga said “On behalf of the stakeholders of Mkpat Enin i welcome our governor here represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga. All i want to say is thank you to His Excellency for practically taking Power and governance to the people in their domain. Other government would have asked the people to travel or send representative to the State capital for this exercise but our Governor is taking government to the grassroots”.

The Council Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Inyang pledged to ensure that the items get to the intended recipients, he further applauded the state government for providing succour to the vulnerable population .

Hon. Elder Udo Sam Umoattan, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Assets Management Agency, also participated in the event, his remarks emphasized the importance of the initiative in promoting community welfare.

A highlight of the day was the distribution of foodstuffs and welfare packages to those in need, reinforcing the government’s dedication to supporting its citizens, particularly during challenging times.

The event also served as an opportunity for stakeholders to rally support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Pastor Umo Eno’s administration, as the Works and Fire Service Commissioner urged attendees to continue in their support to the administration of Pastor Umo Eno.
