The Commissioner for Health, Akwa A’Ibom State, Dr. John Ekem has described the hospital as the best general in the state with the latest cutting edge technology.
According to him this hospital is fully solarized, oxygen are running in the pipes, the emergency unit is well equipped, the chemistry laboratory and all the medical laboratories that a secondary health facility is supposed to have are here, there are 18 flats for accommodation meaning that we will always have medical officers in this hospital to attend to medical challenges, if you die in this hospital, it is God’s will “. The people of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, have finally got their first well-equipped General Hospital, 49 years after the local government was created in 1976.
The hospital, which was initiated in 2009, was completed and commissioned by Governor Pastor Umo Eno.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. John Ekem, described the hospital as the best general hospital in the state, equipped with cutting-edge technology.
According to him, the hospital features include
- State-of-the-art Medical Infrastructure: Fully solarized, oxygen running in pipes, well-equipped emergency unit, pharmaceutical unit, microbiology, chemistry laboratory, and and other medical laboratories, ambulance service, amongst others.
- Accommodation: 18 flats for medical officers, ensuring 24/7 attendance.
- Access and Infrastructure: 2.2km access road, internal walkways, and solar lighting, enabling 24-hour operations.
Commissioner for Works and Fire Service praised Governor Eno for delivering quality infrastructure to Ukanafun. Elders, including House of Representatives Member Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, hailed the hospital as a vital infrastructure enhancing Medicare in the area.
The hospital’s commissioning marks a significant milestone in Akwa Ibom State’s healthcare development, providing quality medical services to Ukanafun and neighboring communities.
