A female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has sparked widespread debate after being posted to manage a cemetery.
In a viral video, the corper expressed her distress, stating, “I’m the first female corper assigned to manage a cemetery. I begged them to reject me, but they refused. Who am I supposed to manage in a cemetery?”
The unusual posting has raised questions about the NYSC’s deployment process and whether it’s suitable for a young woman to be in charge of a cemetery. Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their concerns and offer support to the corper.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by NYSC members, who are often posted to remote or insecure areas. The NYSC has faced criticism in the past for its handling of corps members’ safety and well-being.
The alarm comes at a time corp members are begging the Federal Government to post them to safer Southern states as against the Northern areas where crisis are deepening.
