Popular Nigerian singer, rapper, and actor, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has said that fornication is not a sin according to his belief.
In an interview with Arise TV on June 5, 2025, Falz explained that he no longer identifies as a Christian but now practices what he calls the “religion of love.” He stated that in this religion, premarital sex is not seen as a wrongdoing.
The controversy began after Falz posted a tweet on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week, where he claimed that fornication is not a sin. His statement sparked heated discussions online, with many Christians and Muslims quoting their religious scriptures to oppose his view. The post quickly went viral, drawing both support and backlash.
Following the reaction to his tweet, Falz decided to further clarify his stance. He said that people misunderstood his message by thinking he was referring to Christianity. He pointed out that his view was not based on Christian teachings but on his personal beliefs and philosophy.
“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity,” Falz said during the Arise TV interview. “I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin. Because I looked at it, I strictly addressed the issue: Why are we not allowed to engage in this premarital intercourse? What is the issue? Who does it offend?”
He continued, “These are not married people. These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there. I’m no longer a Christian. I practice religion of love.” He emphasized that his belief system focuses on mutual respect, love, and personal freedom, and that in this context, consensual relationships between unmarried adults are not morally wrong.
