He made the declaration during the Monthly Prayer Service at the Latter House Chapel, Government House, Uyo, where he stressed that the recruitment process will be transparent and free from political interference.

The Governor revealed that over 15,000 applicants have already submitted entries for the 3,000 available slots, adding that a computer-based test will be used to shortlist candidates. According to him, the use of technology is aimed at ensuring fairness and instant feedback for all applicants.

“It will be a computer-based test, and as you finish, your result will come out immediately for you to see whether you passed or not. So, don’t bother sending me texts for slots. It is not possible. For once, we will do this strictly on merit. If you don’t understand computers, there is no need to apply,” he said.

Governor Eno explained that out of the 15,000 applicants, about 12,000 will be screened out through the test, while 5,000 will advance to the oral interview stage before the final 3,000 are selected. He urged youths to embrace technology and take advantage of the government’s online job portal, noting that several people have already secured employment without personal connections.

Talking about his recent two-day inspection of 23 key projects across the State, the Governor expressed his delight at the level of youth involvement in construction and engineering works. “Everywhere I went, I saw young people working, including young female engineers, and that thrilled me. It shows that our people are engaged,” he noted. He further appealed to youths to drop the “sense of entitlement” and seek opportunities responsibly.

Also, Governor Eno announced that the third phase of the food distribution programme for vulnerable citizens will begin on August 20, 2025. According to him, only beneficiaries with food vouchers will be attended to at distribution centres and urged stakeholders to help maintain order.

Continuing his tradition of celebrating Akwa Ibom indigenes making progress nationally, the Governor commended Mrs. Obot Bassey, recently promoted to Assistant Commandant General of Narcotics (ACGN) in the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The prayer service featured a sermon by Bishop Gabriel Nkanang, General Overseer of Word Tabernacle, who preached on the theme “Run the Race” from Hebrews 12:1–2, encouraging Christians to persevere with patience and righteousness.
