A’Ibom Works and Fire Service Commissioner Pays Working Visit to Ika L.G.A

…. reiterates Pastor Umo Eno’s commitment to the development of more communities  

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, today, paid a working visit to Ika Local Government Area. The visit according to the Commissioner was aimed at assessing development issues and engage with stakeholders in the area.

The Commissioner said “His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno asked me to pay a visit to Ika Local Government Area to understand all the issues concerning Ikot Udo road, a road that is of interest to both Akwa Ibom State and our sister state Abia State”.

Development Initiatives

On arrival, Professor Ibanga was received by the Executive Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Utibe Nwoko, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Rt. Hon.Inibhe Silas Etukudoh.

The first point of visit was the Local Government Chairman’s office where stakeholders of the Local Government had gathered to engage with the Commissioner, from there, the Works Commissioner inspected the state of roads in Ikot Udo community and assured the people of the state government’s commitment to extending development to the area.

In his welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Utibe Nwoko, welcomed Professor Ibanga to his domain, and described the visit as timely and soothing. He expressed appreciation for the state government’s interest in developing Ika Local Government Area and pledged the cooperation of his people.

Cooperation and Development

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Rt. Hon. Inibehe Silas Etukudoh, also spoke, describing Ika people as “peace-loving people who welcome development with open arms.” She provided insights into issues affecting Ikot Udo community and Ika Local Government Area, and expressed confidence in the capacity of the state government to resolve all pending matters and foster development in the area. 

After listening to the Local Government Chairman, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, and other stakeholders, Prof. Ibanga pledged to adequately brief His Excellency the Governor on the situation assuring that the state government will take actions to construct the Ikot Udo road.

Professor Ibanga also seized the opportunity offered by the working visit to inspect the level of work at the ongoing construction of 15km Ika-Azumini road, he paid a visit to the Ikot Udo village where he further engaged with stakeholders, including a visit to the palace of the clan head, where he engaged with the traditional rulers, advocating for peace and harmony.

And further expressed confidence in Pastor Umo Eno’s commitment to developing all parts of the state including Ikot Udo village.
