Ben Murray Bruce: “Davido Would Win if He Runs for Governor”

Posted on May 12, 2025

Former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Ben Murray Bruce recently suggested that Afrobeats superstar Davido could one day become the Governor of Osun State if he ever indicated interest to do so.

He made this bold statement during a recent episode of his “Common Sense” series, where he talked about Davido’s political background and growing influence in Nigeria.

Ben Murray Bruce is a Nigerian entrepreneur, media executive, and former senator. He is well known for his “Common Sense” advocacy; a series where he shares opinions on governance, leadership, and youth involvement in politics. Through this platform, he has inspired many Nigerians to think differently about leadership and national development.

In the latest episode of “Common Sense,” Bruce praised Davido, calling him not just a global music star but also a politically aware individual. He shared that in a private conversation, Davido once referred to himself as a “political animal”, someone with a strong interest and belief in political ideology. Bruce said this wasn’t surprising, considering the Adeleke family’s history in Osun politics.

Davido’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is currently serving as the Governor of Osun State, while another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, was the governor during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. With this strong political heritage, Bruce believes Davido has the potential to lead. He confidently stated, “Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”

The statement has sparked reactions across social media, with fans imagining what a Davido political campaign would look like. While Davido himself has not officially shown political ambition, Ben Murray Bruce’s remarks have added to the growing conversation about celebrities transitioning into politics and whether Nigeria’s youth are ready to support one of their own in government.
