Global Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been appointed as Chairman of Sports Trust Fund.
The appointment came from Davidoโs uncle, Governor Adeleke of Osun State, naming Davido as Chairman of Osun State Sports Trust Fund. This strategic move is part of the government’s broader efforts to transform the state’s sports sector and attract private investment.
According to the state government, the appointment is aimed at raising funds to support sports development in Osun State. Davido’s global influence and industry connections are expected to play a crucial role in attracting private investments, sponsorships, and partnerships into Osun’s sports development programs.
Revamping Sports Infrastructure
The Osun State Government is committed to completing the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is expected to meet Olympic standards upon completion. The upgraded facility will not only host national events but also attract international competitions, further solidifying Osun’s position as a hub for sporting excellence.
“We are working to ensure the stadium becomes a world-class arena capable of hosting international competitions, not just national events,” said Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports.

The state government is also planning to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation.
