Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, caused a stir on Friday, June 27, 2025, during a live performance in Umuahia, Abia State, when he angrily scolded a fan who brought a baby to the concert.
Davido was in Umuawa Alaocha, Umuahia, to perform at a star-studded party organized by media entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, better known as Don Lulu. The event was held to celebrate the launch of Don Lulu’s two new radio stations. The occasion attracted several top celebrities including Cubana Chiefpriest, Timaya, Kcee, Peruzzi, Zlatan, Zoro, Jeriq, and legendary highlife singer Bright Chimezie.
The dramatic moment came while Davido was thrilling fans with his hit songs. In the middle of the performance, he suddenly paused the music after spotting a baby in the front row of the crowd. Clearly alarmed, Davido addressed the individual holding the child, saying, “Why you go carry baby come here? Are you crazy? Take your baby away from here, you are a wicked person.”
Many fans at the venue appeared stunned as the DMW boss stood firmly on stage, emphasizing the danger of bringing a child into such a loud and overcrowded space. The incident has since become a trending topic online, with clips circulating widely and drawing both praise and criticism.
While some fans commended Davido for his concern and described him as a responsible father, others speculated that the fan may have brought the baby in a bid to get the singer’s attention and possibly receive financial assistance. Some also questioned the judgment of the adult involved, calling it unsafe and inconsiderate.
One comment read, “He’s such a good dad… the song no sweet am again,” while another user wrote, “Carrying a baby to such a crowded and loud place? That’s dangerous.” The incident also sparked conversations about crowd control and responsible parenting during public events.
