Nigerian entrepreneur, Charles Awuzie, has reacted to the news of Cubana Chief Priest’s U.S. visa denial. In his words
“Having money has no guarantee for your visa to be approved.
Cubuna Chiefprist, was set to travel to Miami to attend Davido’s high-profile wedding but could not make the trip due to visa issues. The disapproval of his visa has caused different reactions from People, both positive and negative.
Awuzie took to Facebook to caution Nigerians against mocking the celebrity barman, noting that visa approval is not determined by wealth alone. He cited examples of prominent personalities, including Bishop David Oyedepo, who have been denied visas despite their influence and resources.
According to Awuzie, several billionaires have also faced similar challenges, even when applying to visit countries like South Africa. He stressed that an applicant’s nationality is often the first factor considered in visa decisions, and approvals depend on multiple conditions beyond financial status.
“Visa is not a sign of wealth. Foreigners queue at our embassies for Nigerian visas. When it comes to visas, it’s not always about money. In fact, your nationality is the first thing they check before considering your application,” he said, adding that it is “witchcraft” to laugh at rich people over temporary setbacks.
Other Nigerians also weighed in on the matter. Anyanwu Winnerman Eze explained that visa approval is at the discretion of the clearance officer, meaning a person with ₦10 million in their account could be approved, while another with ₦200 million could be denied. Chima P. Ubechu added that Chief Priest’s visa refusal reportedly occurred before Davido’s wedding was announced.
