Senator Uche Ekwunife has issued a pointed response to Mrs. Nonye Soludo following her recent statements regarding their ongoing dispute.
Ekwunife, without engaging in what she considers trivial matters, emphasized that Mrs. Soludo’s explanations about her fidelity and personal integrity are primarily owed to her husband, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, rather than to her.
In her statement, Mrs. Soludo attempted to clarify her chastity and virginity, which Ekwunife believes is unnecessary. “Mrs. Nonye Soludo doesn’t owe me those explanations; she owes them to her husband,” said Ekwunife. “If my comments caused her any discomfort or guilt, she should address those feelings with Professor Soludo.”
Ekwunife reiterated that she is not involved in the paternity issues concerning Mrs. Soludo’s children, asserting that her primary responsibility lies with her husband. “If there are doubts regarding her children’s paternity, it is for her to resolve that with Prof. Soludo,” she stated. “I am not the one she needs to convince. If she feels compelled to take an oath or undergo DNA testing to prove her innocence, that is her prerogative.”
Further, Ekwunife expressed her disinterest in being dragged into what she considers a personal matter, stating, “Challenging me to a DNA test is irrelevant; her focus should be on proving her integrity to her husband. If Prof. Soludo wishes to pursue a DNA test for his children, then Mrs. Soludo should proceed confidently.”
Ekwunife also remarked on Mrs. Soludo’s claims of owning companies and her impact on the community, questioning the tangible evidence of her contributions prior to her husband’s political rise. “Instead of engaging in attacks, I recommend Mrs. Soludo strive to achieve even a fraction of what I have accomplished as a woman who has succeeded independently,” she said.
Concluding her remarks, Ekwunife reaffirmed her commitment to the people of Anambra State and the pursuit of good governance, stating, “Our determination to rescue Anambra from misrule is unwavering, and we will continue to fight for the betterment of our state.”
