Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and CEO of Tesla, has said he will start a new political party called the America Party if a controversial bill supported by former U.S. President Donald Trump is approved. Musk made the statement on Monday, June 30, 2025, through several posts on his social media platform, X.
In the past, Ellon Musk and Donald Trump were close allies. Musk even donated about $277 million to Trump’s campaign and supported some of his government decisions. But recently, the two have been fighting publicly, especially over a new policy bill that Musk believes will badly affect America’s economy.
On X, Musk wrote, “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” He added, “They will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
Later, he warned that if the bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE,” he wrote.
Musk is angry because the bill will increase the U.S. debt by around five trillion dollars. He feels betrayed by lawmakers who said they would reduce spending but are now supporting a huge debt increase.
Trump’s “Bill” is a government spending plan that could add between $2.4 trillion and $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years, according to official estimates.
Supporters say it will help the economy, but critics argue that it will cut healthcare, Medicaid, and school feeding programs, while giving tax breaks to the rich.
