Posted on July 14, 2025

Katsina State Government has declared today, Monday, July 14, 2025, a public holiday in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London at the age of 82.

The decision was announced by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda through a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account late Sunday night. The governor stated that the holiday would allow residents and government workers across the state to observe a day of mourning and prayer for the late Nigerian leader.

In his message, Governor Radda prayed for Allah to grant mercy to Buhari’s soul, forgive his shortcomings, and reward his good deeds with paradise.

Meanwhile, arrangements have been concluded for Buhari’s burial, which will take place on Monday, July 14, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. Reports from TVC News confirmed that preparations are already underway in Daura to receive the late president’s remains.

His death has drawn reactions from leaders and citizens across the country, with tributes pouring in for a man many considered a symbol of discipline, simplicity, and national service.
