Ghana’s Jordan Ayew Reacts to Loss Against Nigeria’s Super Eagles

Ghana’s Black Stars fell to Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-1 in a friendly match at London’s Gtech Community Stadium. Despite the loss, Jordan Ayew remained optimistic, stating, “It was a good friendly match, and although we ended up losing 2-1, we’re not too concerned — after all, it was just a friendly.”

Ayew emphasized Ghana’s focus on qualifying for the World Cup, adding, “Our main focus is on helping Ghana qualify for the World Cup. If they want to focus on beating us in friendlies, that’s up to them. We’re focused on winning the matches that truly matter.”

This friendly match, part of the Unity Cup 2025, saw Nigeria’s Cyriel Dessers score a goal, and Razak Simpson’s own goal doubled the lead. Brandon Thomas-Asante halved the deficit for Ghana, but Nigeria held strong to secure the win.
