There was tension at Ozolua Model Primary School, Iguobazuwa East Ward, in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, as an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was attacked by angry voters.
The PDP agent, whose name has not yet been confirmed, was beaten and rough-handled by the crowd. The voters accused him of refusing to release their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Eyewitnesses said the situation became heated when several people demanded their PVCs, but the agent allegedly refused to hand them over. This angered the voters, who then pounced on him.
The intervention of the police saved the man from being seriously injured. Security officers quickly stepped in and took him away from the polling area.

Despite the drama, voting continued as residents turned out in large numbers to cast their votes. Reports also confirmed that election materials had arrived as early as 7 a.m., which allowed the process to start on time.
The incident adds to rising tension in Edo State, where allegations of misconduct and violence have been reported in some areas during the elections.
