Regina Daniels’ Kinsmen Give Ned Nwoko 48 Hours to Accept Bride Price Return, Accuse Him of Intimidation

Relatives of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, demanding that he accept the return of the bride price paid during their marriage.

The family, in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, accused Senator Nwoko of disregarding local customs and using his political influence to harass and intimidate Regina’s relatives. The letter, which has since circulated widely on social media, was also shared by Regina’s brother Sweezzy and fellow actor Stanley Ontop.

According to the Ogwashi-Uku kinsmen, their traditional laws recognize a woman’s right to leave her marriage if she wishes. Once such a decision is made, her family is expected to return the bride price to formally dissolve the union. They alleged that multiple attempts had been made to return the payment to Senator Nwoko, but he had repeatedly refused to accept it.

The community further stated that if the senator continues to reject the repayment, the money would be placed at the Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, which is a traditional act symbolizing the official end of a marriage under their customs.

In the letter, the group expressed deep concern over what they described as the arrest and intimidation of some of Regina’s family members. They condemned such actions as a violation of community traditions and a sign of disrespect to their heritage. The letter called on Senator Nwoko to uphold peace by respecting local customs and immediately releasing the detained relatives.

The statement read in part:

“Our daughter has made her decision known, and according to our customs, her family has taken all necessary steps to return the bride price. Senator Nwoko’s refusal to accept it does not nullify the process. We urge him to respect tradition and cease any further intimidation of her family members.”

The development comes after Regina Daniels reportedly accused her estranged husband of ordering the arrest of her brother and sister following her refusal to return to the marriage.

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko tied the knot in 2019, in a union that sparked public attention due to their significant age difference and Nwoko’s polygamous lifestyle. The couple share two sons together.

As of the time of this report, Senator Ned Nwoko has not issued any official response to the allegations or the open letter from the Ogwashi-Uku community.

The situation continues to attract widespread attention across social media, with many Nigerians calling for a peaceful resolution in line with cultural and legal norms.
