Tailor Cries Out as Microfinance Bank Debits Him N580k for COVID-19 Loan Refund

Posted on May 6, 2025

A Nigerian tailor, known on social media as Zubi Concept, has expressed his frustration after a microfinance bank unexpectedly debited his account for a COVID-19 loan he received years ago.

In his account of events, Zubi revealed that he had been credited 400,000 naira by Nirsal Microfinance Bank to help boost his business during the pandemic. However, years later, he was taken by surprise when the bank withdrew 580,000 naira from his account as a refund for the loan, an amount that exceeded the original sum borrowed.

Zubi lamented the unexpected debit, noting that he had forgotten about the loan and was not given any prior notice regarding the deduction. His experience highlights the challenges many borrowers face in navigating loan repayments, particularly when unexpected charges arise.
