In a video shared on Instagram, a Nigerian comedian Dee-one, who is also a known antagonist of Martins Otse otherwise known as Very Dark Man has advised the rateler protesters to also carry food while preparing for the protest.
His humorous yet serious tone has caught attention online, especially as tensions build ahead of the much-anticipated protest.
The protest, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, is being led by social media personality VDM’s Snr Broda. It’s been dubbed the “Rateler Protest” due to the controversy surrounding a failed investment platform called “Rateler,” which many Nigerians claim they lost money to. The protest aims to call out those believed to be responsible, and it’s expected to draw a large number of disgruntled participants demanding justice.

In his video, Deeone didn’t hold back. He warned protesters to be prepared for potential arrests, stating, “Those going to protest tomorrow, you might end up in Kirikiri for those in Lagos, then Kuje for Abuja people.” He further clarified that GT Bank should not be targeted, as “GTB is innocent.” Addressing those planning to storm EFCC offices, he advised caution, saying they should go not to challenge the authorities blindly, but to ask the right questions – such as “What did VDM do?”
Deeone’s checklist for the day includes food, TomTom, energy drinks like Lucozade, and plenty of water. Above all, he urged everyone to remain law-abiding. He wrapped up his message by reminding his followers that VDM, if guilty of a crime, would face the law. “No one is above the law,” he stated firmly.
As the protest day approaches, Deeone’s words serve as both a warning and a reality check. Whether it’s about staying safe, staying fed, or staying lawful, his advice is a timely reminder that activism also requires responsibility.
