2027: ‘What Will You Do Differently’? – Governor Radda Questions Coalition Leaders

“What are your policy direction, what unique ideologies do you have, will you bring back fuel subsidy, what will you do differently”? those are the worries and query of Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda to the coalition leaders who wish to takeover power from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Governor Radda challenged leaders of the newly formed opposition coalition to clearly spell out how they intend to steer Nigeria differently, especially on sensitive issues like fuel subsidy. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Radda questioned what fresh ideas the coalition truly offers Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Radda pressed the opposition figures to go beyond rhetoric and explain their concrete plans, particularly whether they would reintroduce fuel subsidies, and if so, how they would fund them without jeopardizing the nation’s finances. “This coalition we are talking about in Nigeria, what exactly is new about it? Who are these people? Have they not been part of similar coalitions in the past? What will they do differently from what is being done now?” he asked.

He also accused the coalition leaders of trying to take advantage of their current positions outside power, urging them not to mislead Nigerians with promises that lack substance. “Let’s be honest with ourselves. The days of deceiving Nigerians are gone. Many of them have been in government before. We know their records. Now they shout the loudest simply because they’re out of power,” Radda remarked.

Emphasizing the need for sincerity in politics, the governor argued that if the coalition genuinely has innovative solutions, Nigerians would embrace them. “Our real problem is us, the politicians. Until we clean our ranks and commit to honesty, meaningful progress will be difficult,” he said.

The opposition coalition, which has emerged under the umbrella of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and includes other prominent figures such as Peter Obi, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and several ex-governors and lawmakers.
